Along with Chuck , Erick founded RS2 Architects in Wheaton in 2006.

Erick was born in Guatemala, Central America and with the help of his parents, he found himself in Chicago, in the early 80’s. Raised in the inner City of Chicago, Erick was influenced by the diversity in Chicago’s architecture and historical past. Erick, eventually went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree of Architecture in Design at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

During his studies at UIC, downtown Chicago provided an urban laboratory for several studio projects where Erick experimented with different architectural theories, design philosophies, and process architecture. One influential studio involved the careful study on how nature and its overall design characteristics is in proportion to its parts. Another studio explored the definition of shelter, its site orientation with respect to the sun, careful selection of local raw materials, and its relationship to the end user. Towards the end of his studies, Erick eventually realized that creating architecture is to create an intimate experience, it seeks a familiarization with a clients beliefs, memories, and experiences.

Erick’s philosophy and approach to architecture involves the process of establishing an intimate connection between the designed space and its user. He believes that architecture should engage the five senses of the client. Through the use and careful selection of materials he seeks to evoke an emotional response to the spaces he designs.

Since receiving his degree in architecture, Erick has worked in several architectural firms in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. Erick’s professional experience began at Krupp Associates Architect’s, P.C. where he developed and designed custom residential projects from initial conceptual stage through construction document phase. Erick joined Williams Architects in 2000, where he participated in various Aquatic, Recreational, and Municipal projects from schematic design through construction administration. He then went on to establish his own architectural practice along with founding partner, Chuck Seen.
